Head to Montenegro, a place where you can greet the new year 2026 with a sea view and an unforgettable party.
Below, we bring you an overview of planned New Year’s activities in Montenegro, along with suggestions on where to find the best last-minute options for celebrating on the Montenegrin coast.
The biggest and most exciting city celebration – Budva
Budva is traditionally the most popular New Year’s destination in Montenegro. This is a city that practically lives the holiday for several days, with concerts, fireworks, and open-air parties. The following program is planned:
- A program running from December 29 to January 4, featuring daytime and evening concerts by well-known regional performers. Mirza Selimović, Boban Rajović, Jovana Pajić, and Peđa Medenica will perform.
- On December 30, Marko Louis, the band Zana, the group TAP 011, and the Budva City Music Band will take the stage.
- The main celebration on December 31 will feature performances by Teodora Šćepanović, Emina Jahović, and Aca Pejović.
- On January 1, 2026, the Bokelj Symphony Orchestra, Perper, Chegi Band, and the band Bijelo Dugme will perform.
- On January 2, 2026, popular stars Breskvica, Relja, and Nikolija will perform.
- On January 3, 2026, Sergej Ćetković, Sara Jo, and the Lexington Band will perform.
- On January 4, 2026, tribute performances dedicated to David Bowie, ABBA, and AC/DC are planned.
- There will also be daytime fireworks, street entertainment, and an atmosphere suitable for all generations.

Будва is the ideal destination if you want a large and dynamic celebration that lasts for days, combining open-air concerts, club parties, and the city’s unique energy. Locals point out that the best atmosphere is in venues close to the main stage where the concerts take place. They also recommend daytime visits to the New Year’s Bazaar, known locally as the holiday stalls, and enjoying the Old Town as a gathering place for both tourists and locals.
2) An energetic multi-day celebration – Bar
The coastal town of Bar has developed significantly into a holiday destination, offering a long concert program and lively entertainment. During the holiday period in Bar, on the plateau in front of the Topolica Sports Hall, the following is planned:
- A five-day program from December 29 to January 2.
- Performances by major regional stars such as Aleksandra Prijović, Nataša Bekvalac, Grim, and Zdravko Čolić.
- Live music, DJs, and an intense festive atmosphere along King Nikola’s promenade and near the Topolica Sports Hall.
For New Year’s Eve, a 1990s-themed party is planned, featuring performances by Moby Dick, Funky G, Beat Street, Twins, Dr. Iggy, Duck, Ivan Gavrilović, Lina, Ella B, and Zorana Pavić. The audience will enjoy the biggest hits that defined an entire musical era, while popular DJs will raise the energy toward the end of the night.
Bar is an excellent choice if you want an intense celebration filled with concerts and music, but in a slightly different, more local rhythm than Budva.
3) Live music and Mediterranean atmosphere – Herceg Novi
Herceg Novi offers three days of festive programming on the main square, perfect for combining quality concerts with a relaxed New Year’s celebration. You can expect the sea, a festive atmosphere, and children’s programs with Santa Claus.
Main events include:
- Concerts by Haris Džinović and Neda Ukraden on December 31, Željko Samardžić and Vesna Zmijanac on January 1, and Dženan Lončarević with Tropico Band on January 2.
- A festive atmosphere on Nikola Đurković Square and along the seaside promenade. On the first day of the New Year, the Herceg Novi Chamber Orchestra will premiere, making the stay even more enjoyable for lovers of classical music.
Herceg Novi is an excellent choice for families with children, music lovers, and everyone who enjoys a beautiful, traditional New Year’s celebration under the open sky, with good music and without an overly club-oriented rhythm.

4) A glamorous and elegant New Year’s celebration – Tivat and Porto Montenegro
Тиват is an excellent option if you are looking for a more elegant and sophisticated holiday with Mediterranean charm. The following is being prepared:
- Open-air concerts and events from December 30 to January 2.
- Performances by Saša Matić on December 30, Lepa Brena on December 31, Jelena Rozga on January 1, and Toni Cetinski and Mirza Selimović on January 2.
- The marina, restaurants, and bars with sea views for an elegant dinner or gathering before midnight.
- A New Year’s Bazaar.
- Free entry to all open-air concerts throughout the area.
- A Children’s New Year celebration on the morning of December 30, when Leontina and the children’s choir of the Tivat Music School will perform for the youngest visitors.
Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Tivat is perfect if you are dreaming of a calmer, more luxurious, rich, and glamorous celebration with good music, fine food, and a sea view.
5) For a calmer, slow-travel New Year’s Eve – Portonovi Festive Market
If you prefer relaxed enjoyment, walks, a festive atmosphere, and gourmet experiences, Portonovi, near Đenovići, offers a festive market with holiday stalls, mulled wine, and a light program, without loud clubs or massive concerts.
It is a very convenient and ideal place if you want a romantic or laid-back New Year’s Eve celebration, with a stroll along the marina and local specialties.
6) A more urban welcome to 2026 in Podgorica
Although the main city programs usually take place along the coast, Podgorica can be a good base for clubs, bars, and a more intimate New Year’s celebration. Residents emphasize that the offer is firm in clubs, cafés, and venues specially prepared for New Year’s Eve, as well as in organized programs in the city center.
Celebrating in Podgorica is an excellent choice if you prefer clubs, bars, and nightlife after midnight, especially if you enjoy spontaneous after-parties and discovering different venues.
